New York City is one of the most photographed cities in the world; an urban playground for photographers. Every angle of it seems to have been captured already, and beautifully so. But that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of this great photo location and put your own spin on things!
Here are some beautiful New York City photo spots:
1.The Met Steps
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, or The Met, is one of the world’s largest museums of fine art. It holds works from artists like Van Gogh, Monet, and Rembrandt.
But many of you may remember it from the show Gossip Girl. These are the very steps that Blair and her friends famously ate lunch on.
So if you want your Gossip Girl moment, head to the Upper East side to take a picture!
2. Times Square
Times Square is a New York must-see. Yes, it’s very touristy and something that locals tend to avoid, but it’s worth visiting at least once. The energy of this area is unmatched, and the lights will leave you awestruck.
3. The Friends Apartment
If you’re a Friends fan, you’ll love this! Head to Greenwich Village and take some photos in front of the famous Friends apartment exterior. You’ll find it on the corner of Bedford and Grove St.
4. The Washington Square Arch
Also in Greenwich Village, at the entrance of artsy Washington Square Park, you’ll find the Washington Square Arch. This arch was built in 1889 to celebrate George Washington’s inauguration back in 1789.
If it looks familiar, it’s because it was modelled after the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
5. Radio City Music Hall
Radio City Music Hall is the world’s largest indoor theatre and holds a variety of world-renowned concerts and events. Artists like Frank Sinatra and David Bowie have performed here.
The outside of this venue is hard to miss, especially at night and in the rain. That’s when the lights take on a special form and illuminate color onto every aspect of the street, creating that classic neon New York photo.
6. Washington Street in DUMBO
This has become a very popular photo spot over the years, and you can see why. If you head to DUMBO and go to the intersection of Washington and Water Street, you will see a beautiful view of the Manhattan Bridge in between two crimson red buildings.
This is one of the most Instagrammable places in New York, so don’t miss your chance to take that snapshot!
7. The Brooklyn Bridge
This is an iconic photo spot. Any photo of the Brooklyn Bridge from this angle is bound to turn out amazing. This perspective not only offers a beautiful view of the web-like cables, but also a view of Lower Manhattan in the background.
8. The Brooklyn Bridge (Part II)
If you want to capture the Brooklyn Bridge from a different angle, then cross the bridge and head towards DUMBO. Then, walk along the waterfront and go between St. Anne’s Warehouse and Jane’s Carousel, you should come across this great view.
9. The Buildings of Greenwich and West Village
Greenwich and the West Village are full of New York style brownstone and cast-iron buildings. This area is perfect for that classic coffee in hand, New York walking shot.
It’s a hip part of the city, with shows like Friends and Sex and the City being set here. At one point, even Taylor Swift lived on the now famous Cornelia Street!
10. The Mona Lisa of Williamsburg
Last but not least, we have the Mona Lisa of Williamsburg. Williamsburg is probably Brooklyn’s hippest neighborhood, with lots of creatives living there. So it’s no surprise that it also has a lot of cool street art.
There are so many interesting murals, that you could spend a good chunk of your day just walking around looking for them!
This mural is based on a photograph taken by teenager Steven Paul back in 2014. It quickly rose in popularity and is now one of the most famous pieces in Brooklyn!
